AAA: RI gas prices jump 15 cents in 7 days, again

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have jumped another 15 cents, the second week in a row the price has climbed 15 cents in seven days, according to AAA Southern New England.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.519 at the self-service pump, according to AAA's weekly survey.

The price has jumped 30 cents in the last two weeks.

Rhode Island drivers are paying 76 cents more than the $2.759 they were paying at this time last year.

AAA found a 16-cent range in its survey, from a low of $3.439 to a high of $3.599.

As a fuel-saving tip, AAA reminds drivers that its sufficient to warm up cars for just one minute. AAA says running your engine for longer than that is unnecessary and will just waste fuel.
